The user guide has moved to a new location

This page is no longer maintained

There are several different settings that help determine where on your site or blog will your WordPress Tooltips appear, and how.
You can access, customize, and set rules for the way you want your WordPress tooltips to appear, by going into the plugin’s Settings panel –> and clicking the tab “General Settings”.

Now you can determine the following WordPress tooltips rules:

  • Permalink of you tooltip glossary index page
  • Enable or disable term highlighting in pages and posts
  • Only highlight the first term on each page- Only applies if you’ve unchecked the previous box
  • Only highlight pages on single pages/posts- for cases when you want terms to be highlighted across your site, but not on pages such as the homepage, archive pages and author pages
  • Highlight terms inside user comments

There are several other option in this section which are only meant for web developers. DO NOT touch them unless you know what you’re doing!

WordPress tooltips metabox- For individual page rules

The rules you defined in the general plugin settings will apply to all pages and posts. However, they can be overridden by using the tooltips metabox located on the right side of the content editor of your pages and posts.
Using this metabox, you can manually exclude some pages from being parsed by the plugin, as well as change the rules by which that particular page is parsed.
